The Trekker I Tour is designed for those who prefer seeing the country on foot. Your first trek will take you from the cool highlands into the thick and amazingly diverse cloud forests on the Yumbo Trail. Then you'll spend 5 days in the spectacular lake dotted flanks of the 17,500 ft El Altar volcano. Top this off with a day at some of Ecuador's best hot springs and the unique indigenous market of Otavalo and you have an unforgettable trip.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in
Quito. Transfer to hotel.
Day 2: Quito city tour. Get acquainted with one of Latin America's most beautiful cities.
Day 3: Trek the Yumbo
Trail.
Trek from
Ecuador ’s high
paramo grasslands down through the warm and lush cloud forest with its countless bird species, butterflies and flower and orchid species.
Day 4: Trek the Yumbo Trail
Day 5: Trek the Yumbo Trail. Return to Quito
Day 6: Day Trip to Pululahua Caldera. Return to Quito in the afternoon.
Day 7: El Altar Trek. Trek one of Ecuador ’s most beautiful alpine landscapes, home to many trout filled lakes and the Andean Condor.
Day 8: El Altar Trek
Day 9: El Altar Trek
Day 10: El Altar Trek
Day 11: El Altar Trek. Return to Quito .
Day 12: Day trip to Papallacta. Visit arguably Ecuador ’s nicest hot springs and relax your sore muscles. Return to Quito in late afternoon.
Day 13:
Day trip to one of
Latin America ’s most famous indigenous markets in Otavalo.
This is a great place to pick up souvenirs.
In the afternoon we visit the crater lake of
Cuicocha and return to
Quito in the evening.
Day 14: Flight out of Quito or add on other tour.
